Happy Monday! We’re starting this week off with the wonderful Tessa Afshar!
- What is your favorite literary romance, and what makes it your favorite?
Because I love witty conversation, surprising turns and twists, and unforgettable characters in my stories, Jane Eyre remains my favorite novel. The romance between Jane and Mr. Rochester is gripping, because he recognizes her worth and beauty as a human being when everyone else considers her insignificant. At the same time, Jane sees the potential of goodness in Edward whereas he considers himself beyond redemption. Throw in some very astute observations about God and it makes for a perfect read on a rainy day. Or a sunny one. - What is your favorite Valentine’s memory, or what is the most romantic thing anyone ever did for you?
My wedding was less than two months ago, so I am blessed with lots of romantic memories these days. But none is as dear to me as my first date with my husband. We had been hit by a heavy snowstorm in our State. John picked me up from my house and we drove on empty streets, white with over a foot of downy snow, and went to the only restaurant in town that had remained open. Following a lunch I barely touched, we went to John’s house and talked for hours. After months of friendship, that was the night we revealed we had romantic feelings for each other. We got lost twice getting back to my place, we were so emotionally dazed by our discovery.
