Very interesting. It is true that we dio not know the number of those bearing the gifts. We assume three because of three gifts presented to the King.

Now could Tyndale NLT please publish a commentary that these magoi/magi traveled but did not take their gifts to a child born found in a cave laying on a manger, instead the arrived at a home.

Yes indeed may we worship our Lord Jesus Christ in truth with all our mind also reflect Him as the true light of the World as we are the living epistle of the only Living God who spoke things into existence and called us into relationship with Him

I think too , the important thing is those people were foreigners, they came to worship the King of the univers ..That mean to me how Jesus is my king too ..

They were men of high rank and wealthy. We know that. They also knew the time to look for the signs. So they had knowledge of the 500 year old prophecy of when Jesus would come. That was for sure.

We also know that the lord conversed with them. As he instructed them to take a different path. To avoid leading Hariods men to Jesus. To kill ever first born male….

When I read they were from “the east”, I see that Babylon was east of Jerusalem. I also read that the prophet Daniel served in Babylon. Is it possible that a part of Daniel’s legacy was to inform subsequent generations of Magi of the Hebrew prophecies of a coming Messiah?
That feels reasonable to me.
