The First Testament is\nthe story of Israel \u2013 the Family of Abraham. God launches his project to\nrestore the world by making Abraham a big promise. \u201cThis is my covenant with you: I will make you\nthe father of a multitude of nations! I will confirm my covenant with you and\nyour descendants&nbsp;after you, from generation to generation. . . . I will\nalways be your God and the God of your descendants after you.\u201d Since their\ninception, the nation of Israel knew that they were God\u2019s family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the story that Jesus was born into \u2013 the long,\nwinding, up-and-down story of Israel. Then surprisingly, shockingly, Jesus\nfulfilled God\u2019s promise to Abraham by giving up his life for the life of the\nworld. Israel\u2019s story became everyone\u2019s story. All people are now invited to\njoin God\u2019s family, and the boundary lines that formerly ordered society \u2013\nnationality, language, economic status, gender \u2013 are now superseded by\nmembership in the family of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmu3.northcentralus.cloudapp.azure.com\/nlt\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/08\/CrossSmall-1024x766.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3866\" width=\"336\" height=\"250\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This means the Story of the Bible is the story we\u2019ve all\nbeen adopted into. It\u2019s our Family Story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This beautiful reality is why we at the Institute for Bible\nReading believe everyone should be welcomed to the table to feast together on\nthe Word of God. And we intentionally crafted <em>Immerse: The Bible Reading Experience<\/em> to allow for that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2p2IUHY\">We were thrilled to hear how Bethesda Community Church used <\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2p2IUHY\">Immerse<\/a><\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2p2IUHY\"> to create unity between their Spanish and English congregations (watch video story).<\/a> They used the Family Guide to invite families with young children to read and discuss together. But our vision\nis for everyone to have the tools to read big, read real, and read together. This\nvision for God\u2019s new family to go deep into God\u2019s Word is already beginning to\nhappen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kingdom of God is brown, white, black, young, old, educated, uneducated, healthy, disabled, rich, poor, and everything in between. We speak a multitude of languages. But we are united in Christ.
