TYNDALE HOUSE ADDS NEW BIBLE EDITOR
Dr. Rafael Serrano Joins Tyndale Español Editorial Team

Carol Stream, IL–Tyndale House Publishers announces the appointment of Dr. Rafael Serrano as Senior Editor, Bibles and Reference. Dr. Serrano, an esteemed biblical scholar, translator, editor, and pastor, has joined the Tyndale Español editorial team, effective September 24, 2007.

Dr. Serrano will lead the Bible editorial team now working to complete the Nueva Traducción Viviente (NTV), the Spanish Bible translation comparable to the New Living Translation (NLT). He will work closely with Dr. Jaime Mirón of the Luis Palau Association, who has directed the translation and theological, grammatical, and stylistic revision of the NTV. Dr. Serrano will also lead Tyndale Español in developing and publishing reference works based on the NTV text.

Dr. Serrano earned the B.A. in philology and languages from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and the M. Div. from the Universidad Teológica de America. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Latin University of Theology in Torrance, California. Formerly pastor of a church in Bogotá, Colombia, Dr. Serrano has been Senior Editor at the World Bible Translation Center in Fort Worth, Texas since 1998. There he completed La Palabra de Dios para Todos (Easy-to-Read Spanish Bible). He also wrote Griego Básico para Estudiantes del Nuevo Testamento (Basic Greek for Students of the New Testament). A biblical Greek scholar, Dr. Serrano is also competent in five languages.

“We welcome Dr. Serrano to our Tyndale Español team,” said Mark Taylor, President of Tyndale House Publishers. “His participation will help provide wonderful tools for anyone who wants to read and understand the Bible in Spanish. It is estimated that Spanish is the third most widely used language, and we hope the NTV will have the same ministry impact on the Spanish-speaking world as the NLT has had for English speakers.”

The NTV, Spanish counterpart to the NLT, will be introduced with a March, 2008 release of the Gospel of John, followed by the book of Romans in late 2008. The entire NTV New Testament will be released in early 2009, leading to the publication of the complete text of the Nueva Traducción Viviente in 2009.

Tyndale House launched the New Living Translation (NLT) in 1996. With over 16 million copies of the NLT Bible now in print, it has rapidly become one of the most popular English Bible translations.

Tyndale House Publishers was founded in 1962 by Dr. Kenneth N. Taylor as a means of publishing The Living Bible. One of the premier publishing houses in the industry, Tyndale publishes the New Living Translation Bible and many other resources for church and family, including numerous New York Times bestsellers. Tyndale Español was established in 2005 and has already published more than thirty books and resources in Spanish. Tyndale headquarters is located in Carol Stream, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago.
