TYNDALE HOUSE TO RELEASE PAUL HARVEY’S AMERICA IN JUNE
BIOGRAPHER STEPHEN MANSFIELD WITH DAVID A. HOLLAND SHARE
THE LIFE, ART, AND FAITH OF A MAN WHO TRANSFORMED RADIO

Carol Stream, IL — Tyndale House Publishers announces the acquisition of broadcasting legend Paul Harvey’s biography, to be released on June 1, 2009.  New York Times best-selling author and biographer Stephen Mansfield has collaborated with David A. Holland, a syndicator of talk radio programs, to write Paul Harvey’s America: The Life, Art, and Faith of a Man Who Transformed Radio and Inspired a Nation.

“It is an honor to publish Paul Harvey’s America,” said Janis Long Harris, Associate Publisher, Tyndale House. “We believe this meticulously crafted exploration of Paul Harvey’s life—his belief in the American dream, his contributions to broadcasting, and his faith journey—will inspire and challenge many readers in their own lives of commitment and service.”

Paul Harvey’s America provides the compelling “rest of the story” account of America’s most popular radio host whose voice warmed the radio airwaves for more than six decades until one week before his death on February 28, 2009.  Paul Harvey’s fascinating life is one of ingenuity, integrity, service, and love for family and country, bound together with a quiet, strong faith.  Readers will learn of Harvey’s humble origins; how the brutal murder of his policeman father shaped his early life and career; his nearly 70-year partnership with “Angel,” his  beloved wife and business manager/producer; the participation of their son, Paul, Jr., in the family enterprise; Harvey’s beginnings in the pioneer days of radio; and how he transformed American broadcast history and culture.

More than an inspiring story of a broadcast legend, Paul Harvey’s America includes his cautiously optimistic, but concerned, perspective on his beloved America, a nation which underwent great changes during his lifetime.

“Paul Harvey was a true pioneer and the greatest ambassador—and perhaps, performer—in the history of radio.”
—Rush Limbaugh, nationally syndicated radio host and political commentator

“Paul Harvey was not one of the great American broadcasters; he was the gold standard of American broadcasters.”
—Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor and current host of Huckabee on Fox News and ABC Radio Network’s Huckabee Report

Tyndale House will launch Paul Harvey’s America with a national promotional campaign this spring involving an intensive radio and television interview schedule for the authors and a promotional campaign with ABC Radio Network.  A hardcover biography of approximately 192 pages, the book is being introduced at the suggested retail price of $19.99 (ISBN 978-1-4143-3450-9).
